My friend Nicole once taught me that Chicago isn’t name the Windy City because of the physical wind, it’s called the Windy City because of the hot air bellowing from politicians! I know! That totally “blew” my mind! ;p
But, BOY, did we experience the actual, forceful, freezing wind off of Lake Michigan!! It was so beautiful and yet so awful at the same time! The waves were so huge and small children were being blown away from the hands of their parents! No joke! But Ben & Kelly were INCREDIBLE CHAMPS and we ended up getting some preeeetty cool photos of the skyline, water, and Kelly’s hair blowing in the wind! This is no “fan set up in a studio to simulate wind in the hair”, either. This is straight up hair with a mind of its own, creating drama that just can’t be simulated!! 😀
After their session, we hit up a local pizza joint that blew our socks off!! Anyone who knows us well and knows our food habits, knows we LOVE pure maple syrup. Anything is better with a little bit (or a lot) of puuuure maple syrup! Well, the Monte Cristo at Paulie Gee’s is a slice of heavenly wood-fired pizza with mild gouda, sliced canadian bacon, and juuuust the right amount of pure maple syrup. Trust me, I know it sounds crazy to those who don’t have a love affair with pure maple syrup, but this was sweet perfection. So in case you’re wondering what we’ll be doing in the next few months, we’ll be over here perfecting the Monte Cristo at home. Now we just need a wood-fired pizza oven in our backyard.
